You and your family can offer a child a loving, stable home when they can’t safely remain in their own home. This temporary living situation, called foster care, is the “glue” that holds these children together when they are facing uncertainty in their biological home.
As a foster parent, you’ll essentially act in the best interest of the child in the place of the parents. You’ll make sure all of your child’s needs are met—until the child is reunified with his or her parents or a permanent living situation is arranged.
You and your family will enjoy life as usual as you welcome another child to do “life” with you. You’ll love, care and teach them, just as you would your own biological children.
Medina County JFS works with foster parents at least 18 years of age and who represent a range of marital statuses, orientations, and religions. We seek to support families who provide daily care, supervision and love to vulnerable children in our county. The need is greatest for school-age children, teens, and sibling groups. Foster parents receive ongoing training, support, financial assistance, and healthcare for the children in their care.
