One of the highlights of working with MCJFS both as a foster parent and in a community liaison capacity has been the privilege of witnessing firsthand the overwhelming compassion and support shown by this community. We have asked for help again and again, and this community has responded every single time. Toy drives, holiday gifts, pajamas, books, toiletry items, and so much more. Churches, schools, community groups, local businesses, and individuals have all enthusiastically partnered with us on numerous occasions. We have been brought to tears many times over the generosity of such acts of kindness.
What is so moving about donating pajamas or deodorant? Is it simply meeting a need? Yes, these donations meet a need, but the impact is so much more than that. For a family who has stepped out of their comfort zone to welcome children into their homes, it means knowing they are not alone in caring for these children. For a child in foster care, it means knowing they are part of a community that cares for them. Foster care can be incredibly lonely - for both foster caregivers and children in foster care. Our community has proven repeatedly that we are a caring community with big hearts and for that, we are so grateful!
